field/harvest crew member
We are looking for a hard-working, motivated individual who is passionate about farming.
Hours: Mondays & Thursdays, start time varies from 6:30am-8am depending on the time of year. 8.5 hour days, 30 minute team lunch break. (ex. 6:30am-3pm, 7am-3:30pm, etc.)
Position Period: Flexible start/end date. Ideal candidate could start around May 1 and work through Sept. 18.
Compensation: Dependent on experience. $14-16/hour
Job Summary: We're growing on approximately 1.5 acres using low-till techniques. All of our beds are prepared by hand and all of our veggies and flowers are harvested by hand. We are Certified Naturally Grown so all of our seeds, inputs, and sprays are organic.
Mondays are focused on preparing beds and planting. We cultivate by hand, using tools like a stirrup hoe, broadfork and walk behind tiller. Mondays are all hands on deck, so we'll be working along side Brad & Michelle - our other field/harvest crew employees.
Thursdays are harvest days. We'll spend the morning harvesting flowers and the afternoon harvesting veggies like carrots, radishes, cucumbers etc. Thursdays are more low key and will only be myself and the dogs alongside you.
July and August can be rough. It's hot and humid and some days are miserable. But we listen to music/podcasts and have a good time despite the weather conditions!
Qualifications: -Must be able to lift 50 pounds safely with repetition -Must be able to perform manual labor for 8 hours in all weather conditions (rain, extreme heat, etc.) -Excellent communication skills -Must be self-motivated -Great attention to detail -Ability to complete repetitive and/or solitary tasks
